Five years ago, with something close to missionary zeal, Andrew Meyer, founder and president of Vermont Natural Coatings (VNC), walked into our office and asked us to be a part of building a company that had a social mission, one that involved sustainable agriculture. The product was an environmentally safe, high-quality wood finish made from whey (a by-product of cheese making). It sounded terrific to us. As with most start-ups, a consistent, compelling visual presence and message was critical — as was working within capital constraints. Today the company is making its way into retail stores across the county and being hailed by architects and contractors nationwide. RavenMark has developed all aspects of the company’s brand, including website, labels, and in-store support materials.
